Summer fashion is more than what you wear and how you wear it, style and practicality come in to play but the biggest question is are you covered? With the sun shining and temperatures soaring its not just about your clothes, footwear or that must have bag, it's protection from the sun that needs to be the focus. It's true sun cream is out there and a great range of brands are available, your choice will effect your skin reaction to the suns rays and your overall health but will not make any difference to your image, fashion and style.
This is not the same for sunglasses it's more than just shading your eyes from the bright light and looking cool, it's about finding that shape, style and colour that works with your wardrobe, like all great accessories your sunglasses mater.
Your choice of cheap and disposable or that statement pair of sunglasses is as personal as any decision made about your image and wardrobe, so happy hunting, but my whole reason for my blog is to share facts and information that is not so well known, the information is out there but not always easy to find.
So my question at the beginning was are you covered? You find the style that suits you it's by the designer you admire and love to wear, fantastic but is it going to protect your eyes ? UV is now know to have a detrimental effect to the Heath of our eyes and to the skin, we have be spending year rubbing sun cream in to protect us from such damage, it's time we all protect our eyes, it's true sunglasses have UV filters or at lest they say they do! But how can you be sure, first your product sould say it, that's a good start as long as you trust the source of the information. A trusted retailer, a major brand all have their reputation at stake so you can rely on them, but remember brands are counterfeited and if the price or availability is questionable then think twice, don't support the counterfeit trade as it has a detrimental effect on brands stability, copy right and even effects the economy ( that's my halo bit done ) but remember copies never deliver what they are supposed too, fake product fake benefits.
So we have the product and its 100% UV that means the whole lens is coated but what protection dose it give? Did you know you can get a SPF rating from glasses, most give around a SPF of about 10-15 but a rating of 25 is available so ask the question when you buy, I will be honest this is a fairly new rating and it will take time for it to start to show and many business may not be able to tell you, so remember any protection is better than none, biggest focus is kids so many cheap sun glasses have no protection and will give parents a false sence of security on you child's well being, if any child is out in the sun they need protecting as they have new developing eyes, it's said that damage is done by the time your 18, to late for most of us, so we all need to stop any further damage accruing but we can help the new generations to understand the importance of UV protection now and save their eyes form potential damage.
But we don't need to just consider sunglasses UV is all year round so glasses and contact lenses can all have UV protection and again this comes in differing levels of cover, full UV + is well worth the extra money for peace of mind and the benefits it offers, so when buying your next glasses or sunglasses ask the question, it's time to protect your future health as well as considering your image.
Enjoy your summer look good, feel great, get covered.
